We believe so. There exists a play called The Taming of A Shrew which is similar to Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. It is thought that A Shrew may have been the inspiration for The Shrew. Also, for a number of reasons, it is believed that an earlier version of Hamlet existed, possibly by Kyd, which is called the Ur-Hamlet.
