I prefer barefoot if I'm in a studio or on a stage intended for dancing. Some wear ballroom shoes, while other still wear Ballet flats, or pretty flat shoes. It's popular for belly dancers to wear silver or gold slippers as well. much anything you won't hurt yourself dancing in.

keep in mind if you choose to do shoes, remember any fancy foot work, floor work, or props you're using.

When i have to dance somewhere with a floor not intended for dance, I have a pair of black ballet flats that I wear.

Want to know how to belly dance by a 14 year old.?

For the love of god, do NOT rent a DVD and expect to learn much of anything unless you are taking classes from a trained professional. Bellydance is fun but it is far from easy and if done incorrectly, you can rip abdominal muscles or just generally do it sloppy and look like an idiot when you try to dance publicly. I could show you some examples on YouTube of people who saw one DVD and suddenly think they are bellydancers.... At any rate, find an accredited bellydance school in your area. There are many of them, as bellydance is becoming popular for exercise, core strengthening, and many other physical benefits. Remember, TRUE bellydance is Rated G! There may be undulations and shimmies but it is NOT stripping and you'll NEVER do anything unladylike....

Is the hula always danced barefoot?

Traditionally, the hula is danced barefoot, as it connects the dancer to the earth and enhances the experience of the dance. However, modern interpretations and performances may include footwear, especially in certain settings or styles. Ultimately, the choice of whether to dance barefoot can depend on personal preference, the type of hula, and the context of the performance.

Why has ballet changed from wearing shoes to no shoes and then shoes again?

It hasn't, ballet has always had a barefoot component. In some styles it's called lyrical or barefoot or poetic, but it's all based on the principles of ballet
