Irish step dance is performed by dancers of all ages, often in groups or as solo performers. It is traditionally associated with Irish culture and is popularized through competitions, performances, and showcases like Riverdance. Dancers typically wear special shoes, either hard shoes for percussive sound or soft shoes for graceful movements, and they often participate in both traditional and contemporary styles.

In traditional Irish dance, the primary focus is on the legs and feet. Dancers execute intricate footwork and rapid movements while often keeping their upper bodies relatively still and arms at their sides. This distinctive style highlights the agility and precision of the lower body, making it a hallmark of Irish dance performances.

The term dance master refers to the travelling dance teachers from the 18th and 19th century. They would travel around Ireland teaching dance to the people of the villages. They are responsible for the first formal training of Irish dancers in history.
You can see Irish dance at lots of places! At performances, talent shows, parties, St. Patrick's Day celebrations, parades, at dance classes and at... Irish dance feis! (pronounced FESH) These are competitions where dancers go to compete against other dancers that are the same age and levels. There are judges and trophies and medals are given out for the best dancers.
I don't really understand your question. Is it how many people in Ireland are Irish dancers/ do Irish dancing? Or can everybody in Ireland do Irish dance?

Irish dance is pretty simalar to those performing companies, but the performers are very high level and practice a lot. You can get to that eventually! Also, you don't always have to Irish dance in a group, plenty of dances are done solo. Other than that they are pretty much the same thing, but Irish dancers don't HAVE to perform.I know all this because I have been doing Irish dance for several years and have seen the River Dance. Neither. ISD is more formal and traditional. You keep your arms at your side and not at your hip.I should know. I do it. :) Irish Dance is more like River Dance but yes, it is neither.:D i do it also :P
i only noone person who can or even tryd sooo i think Irish ppl and someothers do it more ppl do the jerk though
