No one really knows how one genius could have written and embodied the language and emotions of so many different types of personalities. No one knows how he could say almost everything he said with such harmony, such beautiful, eloquent language. It's as if he could become the people he wrote about and tell stories with great levels and layers of meaning. It is unfathomable at times to think how he could write such characters as Shylock--and understand the language of the Jews, and then going from there to Falstaff, and his rogue, clownlike wit, or Hamlet and his characteristic indecisiveness, or Richard III and his villainy. It was as if Shakespeare was writing with the voice of God, as Laurence Olivier put it once.

The answer to this fills books, but breaks down into two parts: structure and use of language.

Under structure, many scholars have noted how Shakespeare parallels and contrasts the main plot with the subplot, how he uses motifs and thematic elements to bind the parts of the play together into a coherent whole. Some talk about his placing of climaxes and building story arcs.

Under use of language, consider Shakespeare's use of different kinds of language, some formal some decidedly not, his use of puns and wordplay, his use of regularity and irregularity in rhythm to underline words in text and the state of mind of the speaker, his use of assonance and euphonious vowel shades to colour the lines, and so on.

depends on the person. Most revere him as a classic playwright and poet because of the enormity, fame and attention his talent brought to Stratford-upon-Avon, an otherwise quiet town.

Was Shakespeare just a writer?

There are many debates over William Shakespeare. There are people who theorize that William Shakespeare, was not actually William Shakespeare. These people believe that William Shakespeare was a noble of high birth, who was using the name William Shakespeare to publish writing. There's also the belief that William Shakespeare was actually several different people writing under the name of William Shakespeare. Ultimately, there's no hard evidence to suggest that William Shakespeare was anyone other than William Shakespeare. So the answer is "YES, William Shakespeare was a real writer."
