Harry's original name was Erik Weisz when he moved to Germany many people spelt his name Erich and called him Harry. With his last name he was inspired by another famous magician named Robert Houdin. Houdini didn't copy the whole name but instead put the I at the end of Houdini, as he knew in French if you put an 'I' at the end of something it means 'Like' or 'Similar'. Does that answer your question?
