There are at least 2 reasons:
* They were men.

I believe it was just an act of cowardice because he did something wrong and now he wants to make sure he could never look into the eyes of the people he loved again when they met again in the after life. its all his fault that he did what he did and he can seem to face it
Ted Hughes was married to poet and author Sylvia Plath from 1956 until 1963 when she committed suicide. They rushed and were passionate, marrying after having only met four months before. Amanda Todd was a teenager who committed suicide. She exposed herself on webcam, was frequently bullied in school, and met up with and had sex with some guy she met on the Internet prior to her suicide. Her literature, in my opinion, isn't really impressive in any way - IMO, she was made into a martyr, and her "literature" became grossly overrated because of it. Her name is, however, commonly invoked in discussions about bullying and cyberbullying and her case is closely studied amongst these subjects.

There wasn't any. It seems as if you have your history skewed. The big so-called love story was supposed to be between Mark Antony and Cleo, but Antony was by no means young when he met and was seduced by Cleopatra, he was in his forties. Yes, they did have children, but his death was by no means the cause of her suicide. The cause of Cleopatra's suicide was her pride. She offed herself to avoid being humiliated in Octavian's triumph in Rome.
