Truth is defined in a number of ways; something based on the actual fact of the matter, conformity to reality, a verified and indisputable fact, the state of being true, an obvious accepted fact, ideal or fundamental reality, fidelity or constancy.

You find truth by examining as many resources as possible, especially those with contradicting views. A most important principle when doing research, "If I hadn't believed it, I wouldn't have seen it" is a warning that you need to research further. It means that you don't stop looking at the point that you find your theory confirmed.

ANSWER NO. 2

A Truth is an intangible logic which is valid in every circumstances irrespective of whether I like it or not. Most silly thing about truth is that it is the easiest to see and the toughest to accept. Therefore, research on truth is more about formulating approaches to accept it and less about finding it. A truth means something felt at the warm heart and becomes a wisdom. A truth is just a knowledge till it is not felt ,melted and accepted within the minds.

Example: "If you go in time, you will not miss the flight. If you are delayed, you will miss the flight."

Analysis:

1. This is a knowledge available to every one every time, but not accepted by human subconscious as a truth. Therefore, many are missing big flights in life.

2. This is valid irrespective of whether i like it or not.

3. There is no way to change this logic. But bitterness of a truth can be made smooth by right approaches.

4. There are two perspectives to look on to it. first, how to go in time and secondly how to don't get delayed. These two angles have the same goal, but entirely different when i start formulating a way to execute them.

5. "How to go in time" makes the time more important than the DELAY. Though, , it is a correct approach to solve the problem, but still there is scope of improving the way it is directed and the seriousness toward the goal.

6. An improvement in the " How to go in time " would be " How to don't get delayed". This approach is directly seeing the question or the truth we wanted to solve. In this case you are likely to not only tract your timings but also likely to search the shortage ways, checking the serviceability of your car, climatic conditions and so forth.

CONCLUSION:

There is a truth only if you make the truth as a goal. If the truth is not your goal, but you are interested to know, see, talk, show, judge, complain and argue about that, then every Truth becomes a knowledge rather than a wisdom. Then, knowledge burdens the minds whereas a wisdom enlightens it.

May all beings be happy.

What is the truth?

That's a question that has been asked for many years. The answer varies from person to person. What I consider to be the truth may not be the same thing to you. Truth also has varying degrees. There's I think that's true, that's probably true, I wish that were true and absolute truth. The sun came up this morning is an absolute truth. It will come up in the morning is an example of I think that's true. Look inside yourself to what you believe. I hope you find the truth. Beware, the truth is quite often upsetting and not pretty. I'm sure you've heard of the ugly truth.

How Do Transcendentalists Define Truth answer 2. How a transcendentalist define truth will come to know only when you become so. But in Buddhism a transcendentalist will define a set of relative truths as per our capacity and then keep on rising the quality of that relative truth as we grow in to that path. One day suddenly you will come to know the real truth. Truth is importantly a feeling or experience which is tough to reach. Though truth is visible everyday and every time in the physical aspects , but it helps only when it is seen by the inner most reality of our existence.

Why search for truth because a search for truth is nothing more than turning over existing bolders and hoping to find something new while truth is only a process of self discovery?

That depends on how you define the truth...you will not have discovered yourself by knowing that it is true that, say, beds exist. This is the truth, but in searching for it and finding it, you have not discovered yourself. Therefore it depends on how you define 'truth', and what you believe to be true...do beds actually exist? Am I in fact in the matrix...are you? What do we know for sure... In terms of searching for the truth, and I don't have a clue as to what truth you are talking about incidentally, it is true that if you only overturn existing boulders you will not find the truth. Did Darwin discover that humans evolve from monkeys (if indeed they did) by looking in existing books? No! He found it out himself. It depends, I suppose, on what you mean by boulders. Personally, I believe that if one is to become a Buddhist and believes one can become enlightened, the first thing that I would do is stop being Buddhist and start my own meditation etc. because I don't believe that reading what Buddha says will lead you to your own enlightenment, but instead searching for it based on fleeting clues. You can't find truth about yourself from reading books and studying, from sleeping, from eating, from giving, from working. Instead you must take your own path, unaffected by society, like Buddha, and start searching in yourself, by yourself. Sorry if I lost you...and I hope this answers your question.
