Since the 1960s, moral values have shifted in various ways. There has been increased acceptance and tolerance for diverse lifestyles, beliefs, and identities. There is also a greater emphasis on individual autonomy and personal expression. Additionally, there has been a push for greater equality and social justice for marginalized groups.

What is the difference between a hippie and a beatnik?

Beatniks existed in the 50s and 60s. The Beatniks are stereotyped as wearing turtlenecks, beards, bongos, berets, leotards and the like. Hippies existed in the 60s. The Hippies are stereotyped as wearing tye-dye, hemp, barefooted, and the like. Hippies formed from Beatniks but both were counterculture movements. Both were against societal norms of their times.

Who took jean paul sartre to Egypt in 1967?

Satre was accompanied by fellow existential philosopher Simone de Beauvoir and friend Claude Lanzmann. The invitation had been extended by the daily Egyptian newspaper, Al-Ahram at the behest of local intellectuals. It is possible that the Egyptian government (majority owners of Al-Ahram) were equally keen for Satre to meet the nation's intellectuals: given his criticism of the French colonisation of Algeria, the government had repeatedly tried to secure a visit since the early 60s, hopeful that Satre would spread a pro-Arab sentiment in the West,

What caused humanism?

The ideology of "humanism" was most likely caused by way of an answer toward the absolute corruption and hyjacking of religious practice by ruling, tyranical leaders who took over the common man's methods and objects of worship in order to gain power, sustinance, etc. Probably goes back to the Tower of Babel when people wanted to be ruled but not by some "being" but by a "leader" or "king". Now, the ideology has transformed from human rule over other humans to humans simply ruling themselves according to their own philosophy, conjecture and reasoning...attaining their own standards for themselves. Humanism has been around at least since ancient Greek philosophy if not further back than that. Even God has a problem with Religion because of the corruption caused by man's greed and hubris. Humanism is an answer to that. Look back to the Peace movement of the '60s.

Why does the porridge bird lay his eggs in the air?

That's the old Leprechaun scam!I'm not sure about the previous answer (above), but my response is either "I think we're all Bozos on this bus" or "Where Mr. President can I get a job?"(This letter was originally printed in The Straight Dopenewspaper column, sometime in '94 - I think - or maybe '93. No, it was '94. At least I'm pretty sure it was. Can I get back to you on this? -Doc)I've enjoyed your column for many years and was delighted to see a Firesign Theatre reference October 7. [A reader inquired why the porridge bird lays her eggs in the air.] For your information, the famous Zen question or virus which breaks the computer in our record "I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus" actually comes from a lovely woman named Angel I dated back in the '60s. She's from Texas, and claims that when she was a little girl a leprechaun appeared in her backyard one day while she was playing, asked her that exact question, and then laughed and ran away! I've always interpreted the query as referring to the ecological challenge that faces the planet; to wit, the steady loss of trees in which many birds are wont to nest. But it's obviously open to many interpretations, as is much of our work.Phil Proctor,Beverly Hills, CaliforniaWith all respect, the answer is obvious (hidden in plain sight): Because it is incapable of finding or reaching a hard vacuum.Don Doty,Greenwood, INPS, there are no leprechauns in Indiana, only Kentuckians; Texas analogy = Okies.
