There were nine Apollo missions to the Moon (8,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 and 17). Of these 11,12,14,15,16 and 17 landed. As well as these manned missions, there were 15 "hard impact" missions (pioneer and ranger) which were intended to crash into the Moon. Of these, only 5 actually reached the Moon and of these 5 only three actually returned photographs. There have also been 7 Surveyor missions, of which 5 successfully soft landed.
