that they were not wise as they said they were. Socrates was the wisest man.

Plato was the most influential of Socrates' students and by far one of the most enthusiastic. He is attributed with recording the majority of Socrates' works, since Socrates had never written down any of his philosophical ventures. In fact, contemporary scholars still find it difficult to differentiate the writings of Socrates and Plato (the Socratic problem).
Socrates may come across as annoying due to his relentless questioning and Socratic method, which involves challenging people's beliefs and making them think critically. Some may find this approach confrontational or disruptive to their mindset.
Socrates was critical of democracy because he believed that it could be easily manipulated by demagogues and lead to unjust decision-making. He was also concerned about the influence of majority opinion over truth and reason.
My impression of Socrates from the Apology is that he was principled, courageous, and intellectually sharp. While he may have been viewed as eccentric by some due to his unconventional beliefs and approach to philosophy, I find him inspiring for his unwavering commitment to seeking truth and moral integrity, even in the face of death.
Socrates said, "My advice to you is get married: if you find a good wife you'll be happy; if not, you'll become a philosopher."

Socrates was an opponent of the Sophists. He believed that the Sophists only taught opinions instead of teaching students to find the truth for themselves.
Look at Plato as an example. He was training to be a politician when he met Socrates. He later wrote himself in his analogy of the cave: Politicians make shadows on the walls to entertain the people, they are trying to keep people happy and content with staying in the cave. (The cave being in darkness and ignorance). Philosophers are the sunlight coming in from the cave, trying to help you find truth (the sun). In his analogy of the bear he describes politicians as feeding the hungry bear (the public) with there lies and promises. Philosophers have no interest in public opinion, only in truth.
