I believe "The Great Comment" refers to one of Averroes' works, though I don't know which one. He was known as "The Commentator" for Aristotle, or simply one who relays the information from Aristotle to other people. I don't think Dante in Inferno was saying that he was quoted as saying something profound, just that he was the author of a text that was a great commentary on Aristotle's philosophy.
Don't quote me on this, I gathered all of that from scanning the wikipedia page of Averroes.
The Muslim philosopher who studied and translated the works of Aristotle was Ibn Rushd, also known as Averroes. He played a key role in reintroducing Aristotle's philosophy to the Western world during the Middle Ages.
Yes, an opinion paragraph should ideally include supporting evidence to strengthen the argument being made. A concluding comment helps to summarize the main points and provide closure to the paragraph's argument.
Only a thoughtless person would ask me for a sentence like that.
Some of Aristotle's famous students include Alexander the Great, who later became a powerful ruler, and Theophrastus, who succeeded Aristotle as the head of the Lyceum in Athens. These students went on to make significant contributions in various fields such as philosophy, politics, and science.
The statement is an example of a non-sequitur fallacy, where the conclusion does not logically follow from the premise. The fact that Paul is good at basketball does not necessarily mean he would make a great class president.

If there was a major event that triggered the beginning of the Renaissance, it was a Fundamentalist reaction in Islam. In 1175 the reaction had already swept across Northern Africa. It arrived in Spain. The students of Averroes pleaded with him to flee with them to Paris where they appreciated learning. Averroes refused to go. His students fled ahead of the mob. Averroes looked out of his window and saw the fundamentalist mob burning his books. Averroes survived and the copies of his books that his students took to Paris survived. In the Divine Comedy, Dante places Averroes in the Limbo compartment. It was the artists, musicians, and scholars of Islam bringing that knowledge to Europe that brought the Renaissance.
