Who was Thspis?

Thespis was a Greek poet and performer who is often credited with being the first actor in Greek drama. He introduced the concept of the actor separate from the chorus in ancient Greek theater, and he is said to have won the first recorded acting competition at the City Dionysia festival in Athens.
