I suspect because the Phili politicians have fooled the people. In reality it has not a lot going for it. Mainly open sewers running in to gutters, inadequate power, no social welfare, only 842 miles of rail, falsified unemployment data, corrupt politicians and local authorities, high leves of ingnored child prostitution, rampant poverty, unaffordable medicine, if you are sick and don't have any money hope your family can afford a coffin. Blessed country? It IS a blessed MESS!

The people are nice but they don't believe the country is a mess because they don't know any better and those that do try and get out of the joint - it's a mess!
