B.C., or 'Before Christ', is the time period in history before the existence of Christ, and it differs in that B.C. era years decrease as you move forward in time rather than increase. Hence, A.D. means 'Anno Domini ' or in the year of our Lord.
However, many scientists, historians, teachers and others have begun using the term B.C.E., for 'Before Common Era' and C.E., or 'Common Era' as a secular measurement of time.
Eratosthenes lived from ~ 276 BC - c. 195 BC. In the text In On the Circular Motions of the Celestial Bodies, Cleomedes credited him with having calculated the Earth's circumference around 240 BC, which would have made him around 36 years old at the time. For his part, Cleomedes wrote his text between between the mid-1st century BC and 400 AD (although probably between about 100 BC and 100 AD), so he was writing about a measurement that occurred hundreds of years in the past so we can only consider the 240 BC date as a reasonable estimate rather than established fact.
The Plato's Academy in Athens officially closed in AD 529 when Emperor Justinian ordered all pagan schools in the Byzantine Empire to be shut down.
Plato's fourth dialog is called "Phaedo." It concerns the death of Socrates. "Phaedra" is a Greek play by Seneca the Younger (4 BC - 65 AD). The main character is Phaedra, who is based on Hippolytus, the main character in a myth as told by Euripedes (480-BC - 406 BC).
Socrates lived in the 5th century BC in Ancient Greece. He was born around 470 BC and died in 399 BC.
Aristotle's works, written in the 4th century BCE, describe plants having roots. His observations and writings about plants and their growth are foundational to the development of botany as a scientific discipline.
The last date of BC was 1 BC, then the first date of AD was 1 AD, there was no zero.
Okay Will AD is older than BC because AD is very old not like BC
BC : before Christ AD : anno domino
It isn't a question of closer to ad or bc, it IS bc. 3000bc would be -3000ad.
58 years are between 30 BC and AD 30. The first thing you need to remember is that there is no year 0; the year before AD 1 is 1 BC. So the years between 30 BC and AD 30 are... 29 BC, 28 BC, 27 BC, ..., 2 BC, 1 BC, AD1, AD 2, ..., AD 27, AD 28, AD 29 29 BC through 1 BC is 29 years, and AD 1 through AD 29 is 29 years. 29 years + 29 years = 58 years
Nothing. There was no time period between BC and AD. 1 BC was followed by 1 AD. There was no year zero or any gap between BC and AD.
bc comes first because bc stands for before christ
AD
BC is before AD (Before Christ) (After Death)
Ad because bc started after
BC - Before Christ AD - Anno Domini
BC= negative number AD= Positive number
