Why should you be careful of what you wish for?

That sounds very strange - surely everyone would like to get exactly what they wish for?

Well, the thinking is that not everybody knows the full implications of what they wish for....

• You want to marry that ultra handsome guy?
  • ..... but, you don't know that he's a street angel and house devil who'll beat you and steal your money!
• You want to be so rich that you never have to work?
  • ..... but you don't know that this would leave you so bored that you go insane!
• You want to live to be 100?
  • ..... but you don't know that you're going to get Arthritis and rheumatism at 85 and have 15 years of agony!

The concept behind "Be careful what you wish for" is to advise people to plan their wishes carefully and to know exactly what they involve and what drawbacks they may have.
