It is generally possible to use a 50W bulb in place of a 35W bulb, but you may want to check the light fixture's specifications to ensure it can safely handle the higher wattage. Using a higher wattage bulb may produce more heat, so be cautious of potential overheating issues. It is also recommended to check if the fixture is rated for the higher wattage to avoid any electrical hazards.
Absolutely not... Aftermarket HID bulbs rated at 35W produce a massive amount of heat and if you run them with even 35W you will burn the chrome off the projector bowl. I would spend some money and get DL50 bulbs whcih are 200$ but they can be boosted up to 75W and they will produce a massive 8500LM which compared to OEM 35W at 3200LM sounds like a lot but believe me you will love them. Otherwise I would stay away from aftermarket bulbs.

Not sure what the problem is, just wanted to tell you that my 2005 V Star was doing the same thing. Took it in to be looked at and found that the bulbs in the light bar were too big. They were 55w and only needed 35w. Replaced the bulbs and have not killed the battery since.
The new "P" prefix indicates a lower power processor, with a 25 instead of 35W TDP.
No. The bulb has a maximum rating of 35Watts. If you put 75Watts to a bulb that can only withstand half of that capacity, the bulb will fail.

There is no legal requirement for the wattage for most bulbs, only that they are sufficiently visible and do not blind other users. Most headlights are 35W-55w for road use, with most other external bulbs for indicators, brakes and tail being around 5 watts. Fog lights can be a higher power output. The actual light produced by a car bulb of a given wattage varies depending on the technology (traditional filament, LED or HID), the reflector and the lens colour.

It varies from about 600 to 1100 lumens. Typically the higher the lumens output, the shorter the lifespan of the globe. Have a look at this list of globes for purchase whih shows wattage and lumens: http://1000bulbs.com/category/75-watt-incandescent-standard-shape-light-bulbs/
