Newer pennies actually have less mass than older ones. U.S. cents minted before 1982 were mostly copper and weigh 3.1 grams, while newer ones are mostly zinc and weigh 2.5 grams.
older pennies were made from copper and weigh around 3.11 grams while the new pennies which are copper plated zinc, weigh around 2.5 grams
I have a 1977 penny that can be picked up with a magnet and it is bright gold in color. The detail in the coin is much more detailed than that in a brand new penny. Definition is very, very high.
Lincoln cents from 1983 to 2011 weigh 2.5 grams.
A rusty nail may weigh more than a new one due to the oxidation process. Rust is formed when iron reacts with oxygen, adding mass to the nail. The rust layer can make the nail heavier than when it was in its original form.
No because they are of the same volume but different mass. Pre 1982 pennies were I think 95% copper and 5% zinc. Now they are something like 2% copper and the rest zinc. The density of zinc is 7.13g/cc and copper is 8.92g/cc. They should be less dense no than they were.

What is the value of the original New York penny 1757?Read more: What_is_the_value_of_the_original_New_York_penny_1757
at first, you have to find the density of the penny. [density = mass/ volume ] so 2.49/ 0.349 = 7.1347. rounded to 7.1 but the density of the copper is 8.92 g/ cm3 as the densities are not close, the penny is not pure copper. hope this help :)
There were 240 old pennies in a British pound, whereas there are 100 new pence in a pound. Old pennies were much larger than new ones, more the size of a 50p. cw: Penny vs cent: A cent is 1/100 of the larger denomination.
The coin is still in circulation and only face value.
Too new to be worth more than face. For pennies, they must be 58 or earlier (wheatbacks) to be worth saving.
New Zealand has about 10 times more land area than the state of Hawaii.
If it's not a Wheat penny, it's not a US coin. A lot more information is needed, post new question.
