Sound travel faster through solids because longitudinal waves require collisions between particles to transmit energy - in dense materials, the atoms are closer together, leading to more collisions. Sound travel slowest through air. Space does not transmit sound ,because of the absence of particles ,and that means no vibrations.

Sound is the energy produced as a result of the vibration of atoms. In solids, atoms are closer together than in liquids and gases. Consequently, the energy will be passed quicker through the wood than through air, because the distance between molecules affect the rate at which sound travels.

Yes. How fast it goes depends on the sort of wood. In many woods, the speed of sound is close to 4500 meters per second (m/s) along the grain and 1500 m/s across the grain.

That depends in the type of wood. For examples, see the Sources and Related Links section, further down this page.

Where does sound travel faster wood or brick?

You mean which one does it travel faster in? It would be a brick because of how tightly packed the molecules in the brick are together. Wood, which is a lot more fragile that brick, does not allow sound to travel through it as fast.

Dose sound travel faster throgh brick and concreate?

Sound would travel faster through one brick than the same amount of concrete based on molecular structure but if a wall were built with brick, mortar would be required, this mortar would slow the sound vibrations and scatter them, while the same size wall made of concrete is solid and would then conduct sound faster than the brick wall.

wood

Does sound travel faster through a solid or water?

sound travel faster through soled because of tighter packed particles

Where do sound travel faster?

Through metals

Does sound travel through solids or gases faster?

Sound travels faster through solids because, molecules in solids are much closer together so this allows sound waves to travel faster.

How fast does sound travel through brick?

Sound travels through brick at the speed of 3650 meters per second. Sound is a mechanical wave that can travel through many different types of media, such as water, cork, gold, and glass.
