It has kinetic energy because it is moving. Just because it is in the air doesn't mean that it can't have kinetic energy.

Thunder is sound, not mechanical energy, so it cannot be defined as kinetic energy, nor potential energy.

Anything that has mass can have kinetic energy. Clouds do have kinetic energy.
