Hertz is a unit of measurement that literally means "cycles per second" or cycles/seconds and it refers to a process that repeats at regular intervals. For example, a computer's "clock circuit" is a voltage signal that increases and decreases at a regular interval which may be 1 cycle per 1 nanosecond, which is equal to 1gigahertz.
