The $500 million San Lorenzo CCGT facility is now generating 500MW electrical power. It is located in Batangas City, along the Batangas Bay, around 100km from the Philippine capital Manila. The plant is adjacent to the Santa Rita Project. This strategic location allows it to share common facilities such as the tank farm and fuel jetty, thereby eliminating the need to duplicate various operational facilities. The power station uses a Siemens GUD.1S.3A model gas turbine, a steam turbine and a horizontal heat recovery boiler (HRSG) in each power generation unit. Two power generation units have a single-shaft configuration.

The project's cost is estimated to be $500 million inclusive of capital costs, working capital requirements, related pipeline financing, insurance and development costs. The finance was based on 75% debt and 25% equity structure. Cost reductions via pooling of operations, maintenance and other expenses are also achieved. The plant opened in Q4 2002.

In December 2003, the owners of the Santa Rita and San Lorenzo power stations and Meralco concluded a review of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) as mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act. The owners and Meralco have cooperatively reviewed the PPA and incorporated a number of incentives intended to encourage increased plant utilisation and subsequent efficiency gains.

How much co2 emission does a nuclear power plant give off?

Nuclear power plants do not produce carbon dioxide emissions during their operation. While there are some carbon emissions associated with the construction, maintenance, and decommissioning of nuclear power plants, they are significantly lower than those of fossil fuel-based power plants.

Does nuclear POWER give off CO2?

Nuclear power plants do not emit carbon dioxide (CO2) during electricity generation, as they do not burn fossil fuels. However, CO2 emissions can be indirectly associated with nuclear power from activities such as mining uranium, constructing plants, and managing waste.

What is the average size of a nuclear power plant?

electrical - about 1000Mwatt, physical - varies with design, can't give exact figure. The reactor itself, in a typical 1 GW plant, is smaller than you might think: about the size of a large bathroom or small bedroom. The containment vessel is comparatively huge, and largely empty.

Power plants why are they bad?

power plants are used to generate power...... why they are saying bad means.....in order to generate power u need turbines to rotate and then using generator mechanical energy is converted in to electrical energy..... in order to rotate turbines they are goin for many methods.....some will rotate turbines with high stream..... so u need large amount of water to produce a stream so here wastage of water.... there are some power plants which give pollution.. and nuclear power plant is very dangerous,,, even if small accident or mistake has done means which results in such a vaste danger and damage for living things............... and even other than nuclear powerplants also leads to damage even if a small mistake or error occured means...... if we maintained properly means we can avoid..
