Yes, the refractive index of a liquid often is different at different

temperatures

(usually negative; e.g. It goes down as temperature goes up), although

typically the effect is very nominal.

However, that is not to say that there is a constant relationship between Ref index

& temperature. Refractive index is proportional to the square roots of

electrical permittivity and magnetic permeability. These factors may change

with temperature, but not linearly, and therefore RI does not have a simple

relationship with temperature.

Do impurities raise or lower the refractive index of a substance?

Impurities can cause a significant change in the reflective index of a liquid. Impurities totally affect the results of the experiment. It changes the reflective index and affect the concentration of the solution.

What is the Nature of a convex lens immersed in a liquid with refractive index greater than of glass?

Usually a convex lens made up a material with higher refractive index would act as a converging device when kept in a medium having lower refractive index such as air. But when it is kept in a liquid as said with higher refractive index then convex lens would become as a concave lens. Now it would diverge the rays entering through it right from the liquid with higher refractive index.

What is refractive index of diamond?

The (very high) refractive index of diamond is 2.4 at room temperature.(From Wikipedia: "Refractive index also describes the quantity that light is bent as it passes through a single substance."

Why is it advisable to correct the measured refractive index for temperature?

The refractive index is a physical property of the medium that depends on the wavelength of the light, and the temperature. The temperature needs to be specified, and is usually 20 or 25 degree Celsius. The refractive index decreases with increasing temperature, and for most organic compounds one can correct for the temperature.
