Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it simply goes from one place to another. For example, I eat food, which gives me energy. I then use that energy to push a cart, which in turn will come to a stop due to friction (turns kinetic energy into heat). Finally that heat will travel elsewhere and this goes on until it eventually goes back to being energy needed to create that food again. In short, the energy used to grow the original food was never lost and it eventually went to grow new food. Therefore, since no energy was lost, no new energy was created to replace it.
