What is the instrument used to measure diameter of testtube?

Calipers measure the internal or external dimensions of something.

What instrument would you use to measure the diameter of a cylinder?

A vernier caliper

What are the parts of vernier caliper and their functions?

1. outside jaws 2.inside caliper jaws 3.vernier inches 4.vernier centimeters 5.fine locking screw 6.coarse locking screw 7.fine adjust thumbscrew 8.main scale inches 9.main scale centimeters 10.depth probe

What does a caliper measures?

A caliper measures distance. For example the distance between the insides of a pipe (diameter). There are inside calipers and outside calipers. Look at the 'related links' below. The links will take you to the wikipedia page on calipers. There are pictures etc that may help.

What is the use of thin strip moving behind the main scale of vernier caliper?

That is the intelligent technique applied by Vernier. We have seen 1 cm gap. That has been divided into ten equal parts. So each part is 1 mm. That too could be sensed. Even that 1 mm could be divided into two equal halves with markings. But now we need 1/10 of a mm. Will it be possible to have such 10 equal gaps within that 1 mm gap? No not at all possible. But I'd like to measure such a fine distance. What can I do? Now let us take 9 mm and divide that length into 10 equal parts. That markings could be done easily. Now each gap would be 0.9 mm. As we keep the extreme end marking ie 0 reading of vernier along with 0 of main scale, then the other extreme would coincide with 9 mm marking. Ok what about first division of vernier? It will be just before the 1 mm marking by a gap 1-0.9 = 0.1 mm. So as we slide the vernier through small distance such that first division of vernier coincides with 1 mm marking, then we are so sure that we have slided the vernier by 0.1 mm. See we have succeeded in getting even that 0.1 mm so accurately without direct markings. That is the intelligence of mankind inherent by nature.

What instrument would you use to measure the diameter of a cylinder?

Can you use the tail of the vernier caliper to measure the depth of the test tube?

No, the tail of a vernier caliper is used to measure inside dimensions like holes or pipes, not depth. To measure the depth of the test tube, you would need to use the main scale and the vernier scale on the caliper's jaws.

What is the difference between Screw Gauge and Vernier Caliper?

*Micrometer have a rotary handle and whereas vernier have a slider. *Micrometer is for measuring diameters while vernier is for measuring inside & outside diameter as well as depth. *Least Count of Vernier Caliper is 0.02mm *Least Count of Micrometer is 0.01mm

What a three things a vernier caliper measures in a garage?

1. A shaft diameter 2. Length of bolt 3. Inside of a hub

What are the Basic concepts of Vernier calipers?

A Vernier caliper has many parts. Some of the main parts include an inside jaw, which performs measurements, the depth probe, which finds the depth, and outside jaws, which measure external lengths.

Calipers- Inside or Outside?

Calipers are used to measure the dimension of anarticle. In measuring a section of pipe you would use an inside caliper to give the internal diameter, and an outside caliper to give the external diameter. The difference being the thickness of the pipe wall.

What instrument measures the diameter inside the cylinder?

caliper

What is the function of vernier calliper?

It's designed to measure short distances more accurately than a ruler or tape measure, specifically the outside or inside opposing faces of an object. An example of it's use is to measure the outside diameter of a pipe.

The uses of upper jaw lower jaw and blade in vernier caliper?

The lower jaw is used for taking outside measurements. As on the outside of a shaft. The upper jaw is used for taking inside measurements as in the inside of a pipe or tube. The 'blade' is for reading the measurement. Dial calipers are easier to read.

What are the difference between meter rule vernier calipers and micrometer screw gauge?

there is a big different between the vernier caliper and micro meter caliper, the vernier caliper they can use the outside and inside measurement while the micro meter caliper it's just only use outside measurement..
