Edison tried to prove that alternating current (AC) was dangerous by publicly electrocuting animals with AC currents. Edison had a primitive DC current as opposed to Tesla AC, which is the usual current now a days. both sides had different designs for light bulbs, Tesla being better. Edison had his electric incandescent light, but the greatest problem Edison faced with electricity was its distribution. Edison was a proponent of DC electricity. However, distributing DC electricity to the masses was expensive and, ultimately, proved impractical. George Westinghouse, along with one of the smartest people who ever lived (IMO), Nikola Tesla, proved that AC electricity was much more economically distributed. Tesla, at one time, worked for Edison but Edison found his AC ideas 'impractical.' Tesla thus went to work for George Westinghouse who, earlier in 1869, invented the airbrake for trains.
