How do you know when you have lost your virginity?

Medically you have lost your virginity when you have had penetrative sex with a member of the opposite sex, that is when the males penis has inserted into the females vagina during sex. But everybody sees it differently, some people think oral sex can be considered losing your virginity, others think virginity is something you give away and cannot be taken fro you even if you are raped for instance.
