I have an Epson Artison that was doing the same thing. I removed the paper tray and looked underneath. There should be some rubberized rollers that come in contact with the paper and spin. This is what pulls the paper up. Use a soft cloth and some alcohol to clean these rollers, even if they do not appear to be too bad. Let them dry a minute, put your paper tray back in, and give it a test run. That worked for me.
