You need two gears. One would be a sprocket. The other would be a straight bar with equally spaced gear teeth similar to the round gear teeth(sprocket).

You can also acheive linear movement from circular movement using a belt. Take apart an old radio and see how the pointer is moved across the display using the Tuner Knob.

What do the 4 motions do?

The 4 motions refer to the movements a robot can make: translation, rotation, oscillation, and vibration. Translation is moving in a straight line, rotation is spinning around an axis, oscillation is back and forth movement, and vibration is a rapid back-and-forth motion. These motions allow robots to perform a wide range of tasks and maneuvers.

What effect does the light source have on a radiometer?

The light source heats the radiometer's vanes, causing them to rotate due to the pressure difference on either side of the vanes. The intensity and angle of the light can affect the speed and direction of rotation. A stronger light source can lead to faster rotation, while different wavelengths of light may also impact the radiometer's movement.

What two things make thermal energy?

Thermal energy is primarily generated by the movement of particles within a substance, known as heat. Additionally, thermal energy can also be produced by the vibration and rotation of molecules within an object.

What is the force that tends to make moving bodies fly away from the center of rotation?

The force that tends to make moving bodies fly away from the center of rotation is called centrifugal force. It is a pseudo-force experienced by objects in a rotating reference frame that appears to push objects outward from the center of rotation.
