Coal, oil, or natural gas is used to make electricity by burning it. The heat is used to drive a steam turbine that is hooked up to a generator.

fossil fuels are coal, oil and gas. They are called fossil fuels because you find thin in extinct dead animal fossils either underground or in the deep sea

Typically - you would use the fossil fuel (for example coal) to heat water to produce steam to turn a turbin which in turn spins a generator that will produce electricity.

in Australia we use gas, oil, and coal.

Do phones use fossil fuels?

Yes, fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) are used to produce the electricity to run and manufacture all kinds of phones.

How do solar panels help us reduce the amount of fossil fuels we use?

Solar panels produce electricity without greenhouse gas emissions and therefore we don't need to use fossil fuels as much?

Why do you use fossil fuels today?

To get electricity and fuel

Why do you use fossil fuels for energy?

they do not produce pollution

What fossil fuels will be save by increased use of nuclear power?

fossil fuels that are dead and that produce oil

How can the society change the continuous use of fossil fuels?

We need to burn fossil fuels now to produce electricity and power our transport. When we do this we release carbon that has been buried for millions of years. Before we can stop burning fossil fuels we need to develop other ways of generating electricity, like better ways of using solar, wind, water and thermal energy. When we can do this efficiently then we can stop using fossil fuels.

How do you release the energy from fossil fuels into living organismas?

Use the fossil fuels to make electricity. Use the electricity to make light and use this artificial light to raise crops (eg carrots). Feed the carrots to a rabbit. The rabbit will then be living on the energy (which was once sunlight) that was stored in the fossil fuels.

Do cars produce fossil fuels?

No. Most cars use fossil fuels (primarily gasoline and diesel made from oil).

How might actions contribute to global warming?

Any time we use electricity produced from fossil fuels, and any time we use fossil fuels (transport).

Why do fossil fuels play such a big part in your lives?

the electricity you use depends mainly on fossil fuels, the factories that make machinary are ru on fossil fuels and a lot pf the things you use starts off as oil. You depend on petrol, diesel and kerosen for you car, and you use gas or electricity for cooking and heating.

How does solar energy reduce the use of fossil fuels?

Most countries burn fossil fuels to generate electricity. If they used solar power to generate electricity, thenThey would not have to use so much fossil fuel.Solar Energy itself does not reduce the use of fossil fuels. But the use of solar energy should hopefully reduce the need of fossil fuels to create energy, so therefore the more we can use solar power as an energy source instead of fossil fuels, the more we reduce the use of fossil fuels.
