Biosphere 2 is a closed ecological system designed to mimic Earth's environmental conditions. It consists of different biomes like rainforest, savannah, and ocean. The system uses plants, soils, and atmosphere to support life inside, creating a self-sustaining environment with its own water and energy cycles.
The types of mechanical work include static work, dynamic work, and intensive work. Static work refers to work done without motion, dynamic work involves movement, and intensive work focuses on the internal energy changes within a system.
Input work is the work done on a machine, while output work is the work done by the machine. Efficiency of a simple machine is calculated as the ratio of output work to input work. The efficiency of a simple machine is high when the output work is close to the input work, indicating that the machine is converting most of the input work into useful output work.
The formula that relates work and power is: Power = Work / Time. Power is the rate at which work is done, which is the amount of work done divided by the time it takes to do that work.
the work a machine does is the work output what it takes to do the work is the work input
The formula to find the work output of efficiency is: Work output = Efficiency x Input work. Efficiency is a ratio of output work to input work, so multiplying this ratio by the input work gives the work output.
Biosphere 2's initial purpose was to expand on the problems that arose with the original Biosphere experiment. It still shares the same basic philosophy of the original.
When Biosphere2 was constructed near Tucson, Arizona, many tons of concrete were poured in the construction process. For many months after it sets, concrete absorbs carbon dioxide as part of the curing process. Plants, animals and humans were sealed in the environment before the concrete was completely cured. The organisms, including the humans, were releasing carbon dioxide during respiration which, normally, would have been absorbed by the plants that would then release oxygen into the environment, However, most of the carbon dioxide was being absorbed by the concrete so the plants could not flourish and provide oxygen to the inhabitants. The oxygen levels dropped to a dangerous level and nearly killed the humans living there. Supplemental oxygen had to be provided by the scientists to prevent a disaster.
1. Biosphere - This is where all living things on Earth live. Humans live in a biosphere2. Biomes - A large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat.3. Ecosystem - A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.4. Community - All the organisms living in a particular area or place: "local communities".5. Populations - A particular section, group, or type of people or animals living in an area or country.6. Individual - by itself
