As the water moves lower, its Potential Energy is transformed into Kinetic Energy as its velocity increases. K.E. = 1/2 Mass x Velocity2 .
The K.E. goes to zero when the motion of the water stops. The water then has a new value of Potential Energy based on its new elevation.
This type of energy change is utilized to generate electricity (power) in hydraulic power plants. The potential energy stored in the water at the top converts to kinetic energy as it falls (and turns giant turbines).
The gravitational potential energy of the water in the stream is converted into the kinetic energy of the water as it flows down a hill. Due to resistive forces, part of the kinetic energy in the water is converted into heat energy.
Potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy, the water speeds up.
When water flows down a hill across the Earth's surface, it takes with it dirt, grass, rocks, and other small surface debris. This can lead to erosion after time.
When water begins to run down a slope, it picks up speed. A it's speed increases, so does it's energy. Fast moving water, picks up more sediment than slow moving water. :))
waterfall
Runoff
it ends up in rivers and oceans etc
runoff
Runoff
it would be lava , magma is in the ground and flows on earths surface and cools to lava
Runoff
Runoff is the water flowing downhill across the surface of the Earth.
Molton rock that flows from a volcano onto Earths surface is
Lava.
it ends up in rivers and oceans etc
