Friction affects Basketball in many ways. For starters, a player wouldn't be able to stop or run because of the lack relative motion on the surface of an object. Friction is necessary for the sport of Basketball.

Gravity plays a big role in most ball games. For one, with no gravity the ball would just continue to go in the direction you kick, and would obviously make it fly into the atmopshere. Plus it provides air friction, without it the ball would be likely to go farther than it would with gravity. it also provides normal friction on the ground, since it is constantly pulling toward the ground, the ground slow it down just like normal friction.
