Since the dums was invented (around 6000 BC), it's changed a little bit.

1. the skin 6000 BC - was made of calfskin, goatskin, the skin of their enemies etc.

2. the base - not sure on what the base was made of but im guessing wood, bones and any thing else they could get in their hands.

3. the sticks - they used to be made out of their enemies bones but they probably used twigs a swell.

4. drums - there are still African drums around the world they have changed from that to plastic to an actual electrical dum kit.

5. Symbols / crash - they weren't invented back in the 6000 BC FOR SURE. But im not sure when they came into the world.

The drum is the oldest musical instrument in the world, apart from the human voice. I hope this helped !!!
