Covection is one of the three methods of heat transfer, others are conduction and radiation.

Steps of convection of heat are:

(i) Molecules of medium gains energy,

(ii) This gain in energy makes them more vibrating thus the distance between molecules increases making the local volume of medium more lighter i.e. less denser.

(iii) this volume being less denser is displaced by the volume of medium which is denser (i.e. cooler).

(iv) Thus the heat is transferred in form of medium itself from hot to cool area.

THIS IS CONVECTION.
