Best Answer

To measure weight Fg = mg, where Fg is the weight in Newtons, m is the mass in kilograms and g is the acceleration due to gravity .

On Earth, the acceleration due to gravity is 9.81m/s^2

Plot numbers into equation:
Fg = mg = (10kg)(9.81m/s^2)
Fg = 98.1N

Technically, these two units cannot be substituted for each other because the Newton is a measure of force and the Kilogram is a measure of mass. However, If the object that is being referred to here is on earth then we can convert using the following equation:

Force = mass x acceleration (due to gravity)

If we insert the numbers in.

Force = 10 kg x 9.8 m/sec2 = 98 kg x m/sec2 = 98 Newtons
