The Ton, avoirdupois US usage is a unit of weight, not monetary value- it is 2000 Lbs of l6 ounces each. The Troy weight system ( it has been argued this was legal requirement in New York State for the NYGMW system on all Trucks formerly operated within the state- The Troy system MAY have been used. A Troy block is a cast or cut stone or mineral block of trapezoidal shape, like the Chunky Candy. They are ancient and have a variety of uses- including possibly cast bullion.
