There should be enough uranium for another 100 years or so, but lower grade ore will have to be used. There is also plutonium which can be used (Pu239). So it's not a worry for a long time yet.

What are the fuel sources for nuclear power plant?

Natural uranium has about 0.7 percent U235, this has to be increased to about 4 percent for use in natural water moderated reactors. The obtaining of uranium from mining and refining is described in the document linked below

What is the source of nuclear power station?

They supply the electricity companies who supply your house or business

What is the possibility of uranium as future source of energy?

There is potential for uranium to be a future source of energy as it is a reliable and abundant fuel for nuclear power generation. However, there are challenges such as cost, safety concerns, and public perception that may impact its widespread adoption. Research into new technologies like advanced reactors and fuel cycles could improve the prospects for uranium as an energy source.

How much coal has to be burned to produce the same amount of energy as is generated by a kilogram of uranium fuel pellet?

Approximately 30,000 kilograms of coal would need to be burned to produce the same amount of energy as is generated by a kilogram of uranium fuel pellet. Uranium fuel has a much higher energy density than coal, making it a more efficient and cleaner source of energy.

What energy source is used for nuclear fuel rods?

The energy source used for nuclear fuel rods is the process of nuclear fission. In this process, the nuclei of certain heavy elements, such as uranium-235 or plutonium-239, are split into smaller nuclei, releasing a large amount of energy in the form of heat. This heat is then used to generate electricity in nuclear power plants.

What kind of material is nuclear fuel?

According to the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, nuclear fuel is from three different kinds of fuel. The special one consists of uranium-233, uranium-235, enriched uranium, or plutonium. The Source is from natural uranium or thorium. It can also come from depleted uranium not suitable as a reactor fuel. The byproduct can come from radioactive material. They also contain waste and tailings made by extracting or concentrating the uranium or thorium from an ore processed mainly for its content of source material.

What are the raw materials neeeded for nuclear energy?

Uranium mined as an ore is the source of the fuel.

Ubiquitous and unusual named after the 7th rock from the sun one lb of this nuclear fuel source is equivantent to 1500 tons of coal?

Uranium is the element being referred to here. It is named after the planet Uranus, the 7th planet from the sun. Uranium is a nuclear fuel source that is highly efficient; just one pound of uranium can produce as much energy as 1500 tons of coal.

Why is urainium a non renewable fuel?

Uranium is a non-renewable fuel. The earth has a limited supply of this mineral. Uranium ore is mined, then refined for use in power plants. It can not be put back. The earth is not creating more uranium. As with any non-renewable fuel, we should be concern about the supply. If additional quantities are discovered, the uranium that is known to us, can increase. See related link on abundance of uranium and other minerals.

Where do powerplants get uranium?

Power plants typically source uranium from mines located around the world. The uranium is mined, processed, and then enriched to the appropriate level for use in nuclear reactors. Some uranium may also come from reprocessed nuclear fuel.

Where does the nuclear plants get their uranium I heard it came from unarmed missiles is this true?

Australia and Canada supply newly mined uranium. In the US the reduction of nuclear weapons has made uranium and plutonium available and I think this is also being used. plutonium can be used with uranium in so called MOX fuel (mixed oxide fuel)

How is uranium used as a fossil fuel?

Uranium is not a fossil fuel; uranium is used as nuclear fuel for nuclear power reactors.

Do batteries have an unlimited supply of energy?

No, that's why they come in packs, because they always use up their fuel. Were they to have unlimited energy, you would never need to replace them or recharge them.
