While there have been efforts to describe these forces as aspects of a single force, such a unifying force has not been discovered yet.

I don't get it. If you are in a commited relationship, you are not single. the only way you would be single to other people is if that person in a commited relationship is telling other people they are single because they want to cheat. but there is no way you are single if you are in a commited relationship.
Be aware that having a relationship with an employee or employer can contribute to a stressful workplace if it does not work out. Since the boss is single, perhaps you can make it known that you like him or her in someway. Offer to buy them lunch for starters.

Being single is a choice on most accounts. You are single until you develop a one to one relationship with someone. Then you're "in a relationship" You can go back to being single when one or both of you decide to end the one-to-one relationship.
