Ok, there are lots of things one has to do to care for a quality light microscope. So, I'll just give you some commonsense tips.
1. Don't touch any of the lens with your fingers.
2. Store the device in a clean dry box or cabinet, usually with some kind of plastic dust cover.
3. When using the High-Power objective lens, be very careful when focusing not to drive the head of the lens into the cover-slip or slide. Always visually adjust the head of the lens about 1 mm or so above the cover-slip, then looking through the eye-piece, use the "fine" focus control to bring the sample into sharp focus.
4. Always replace damaged parts and components with manufacture recommended replacements. If you must use other manufacture's parts, be sure they have the right specifications for your particular microscope.
5. When moving your microscope from place to place in the lab, use one hand to grip the microscope while supporting it at the base with your other hand. This keeps accidents and the lost of parts to a minimum.
6. Don't leave slide, sample, and cover-slip on the microscope stage for extended periods of time, and when through viewing, raise the objective lens away from the cover-slip and turn the objectives to the lowest power objective len setting. Remove the slide and put the microscope away.
7. If the microscope uses a light bulb as its light source, turn the power off when the microscope isn't actually in use.
8. Cleaning the eye-piece and objective lens, aways follow the manufacture's recommendations and instructions.
Hope that helps.
'Compound light' means a certain type of microscope, separating it from other types like digital microscope or electron scanning microscopes. Compound light microscope is the very traditional type used in laboratories. It has usually a set of lenses for different magnification levels (eg. 150x, 300x, 600x, 900x, 1200x) The object of study under the microscope can be illuminated in different ways to enable one to inspect certain characteristics better.
The ocular lens are 10x magnification. Objective lens are 4x, 10x, 40x, 100x magnification. So once an objective lens is selected, the total magnification would be given by its product with the 10x magnification of the ocular lens. For example, if objective lens selected is 40x, total magnification would be: (10x)(40x)=400x total.
An experiment can be compromised by external factors such as equipment malfunction, environmental changes, or human error. Contamination can occur through unintended introduction of substances, improper handling of samples, or cross-contamination between samples. It is important to minimize these risks through proper experimental design, execution, and controls.
Leaves can be classified based on their arrangement on the stem (opposite, alternate, whorled), shape (simple, compound), and margin (entire, serrated, lobed).
A microscope can help in studying the fine details and structures of objects and organisms that are not visible to the naked eye. It enables researchers to observe cells, bacteria, and other small organisms, thus contributing to advances in fields like biology, medicine, and forensics. Additionally, microscopes can aid in quality control and analysis in industries such as electronics and materials science.

While moving the microscope from one place to another, always keep it in an upright position.
hold it with both hands soit does notdrop or accidentally hit something.

You can control light intensity on a compound light microscope by adjusting the diaphragm, which regulates the amount of light passing through the specimen, and by using the rheostat or brightness control, which allows you to increase or decrease the overall light brightness.

Zacharias Janssen and his son Johannes (Hans), spectacle makers in Holland, are usually credited with inventing the first compound microscope in about 1590. (Hans Lippershey, a spectacle maker in the same city, Middelburg, Netherlands, also claimed credit for the invention but was perhaps more instrumental in the creation of the telescope.) It was said that the Zacharias Janssen was experimenting with ways to improve spectacles for people who needed greater magnification to improve eyesight, but nothing more specific than simply experimenting with multiple lenses can be associated with how he invented the compound microscope. It is worth noting that at the same time experimentation by other spectacle makers and lens makers was leading to the discovery of the telescope, another optical instrument of two lenses. Two decades later, Galileo Galilei built a compound microscope and changed the lens design lens (convex and concave lens).
