The four standard phonograph record player speeds are 33 1/3, 45, 78, and in some cases, 16 2/3 revolutions per minute (RPM).
A Galleon ship typically traveled at speeds of around 4-8 knots, which is roughly 4.6-9.2 miles per hour. However, speeds could vary depending on factors like wind conditions, currents, and the size and design of the ship.
The chuck spindle has a 4 tier pulley on top. The motor also has a 4 tier pulley set the opposite way. A belt between the 2 pulleys drives the spindle at different speeds depending on where it's placed by the operator.
Humphead wrasse can swim at speeds of up to 3-4 miles per hour. They are strong swimmers and can cover large distances in search of food or mates.
A carrack is a type of sailing ship that was used for long-distance travel during the Age of Exploration, typically reaching speeds of 4-8 knots (4.6-9.2 mph).

'Gramophone' is a trademark, and was an early term for what came to be known as the 'record player.' Depending on your age, however, the next question you might ask is, 'What are record players?'A gramophone is a record player that plays flat records on a turntable (with or without amplification). They were created a few years after Edison invented his phonograph that played cylindrical records to bypass both his patents (by using a disk instead of a cylinder) and his trademarks (calling them gramophones instead of phonographs). One of the earliest brands of gramophone sold was the Victrola.Ultimately the gramophone design made the Edison phonograph design obsolete, but the name phonograph came to apply in the public mind to both designs and many people have completely forgotten the original meaning of the word gramophone.

There are two types of automatic record players. One automatically puts the tone arm onto the edge of the record and begins playing then shuts off the player and picks up the tone arm after the side is finished playing. The other simply shuts off the player after the side has been played. I have a 1921 Sonora Marlborough console player that has the latter. There are also automatic record changers. These perform the functions of the above plus having a special spindle will hold up to 4 discs and drop them automatically for continuous play. Automatic record changers began appearing during the late 1930s on consoles. on portables they began appearing in the early 1960s as solid state circuitry made it possible for the mechanism to fit in a smaller cabinet. I had a GE portable with an automatic record changer that was manufactured in 1969. This was solid state with an all plastic case (cream colored)) with a plastic tone arm. It played 4 speeds, (16,33 1/3, 45 and 78). Most GE players seem to date from about 1957 to 1984. In the last 3 years turntables and record players seem to be making a comeback but I have not seen any by GE as yet. A great book is THE FABULOUS PHONOGRAPH 1877-1977 by Roland Gelatt. It is my audio bible.
