In experimental design, this factor is called the Independent Variable. In an improperly conducted experiment, these factors are called variables. It would be improperly conducted because in an experiment, there is only supposed to be one independent variable at a time.

If you mean factors that are meant to stay the same, it varies on the experiment but usually environmental conditions and time experiment was conducted are controlled variables
