Science has identified four fundamental kinds of forces, which are the electromagnetic force, the gravitational force, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. There are other kinds of forces which you will hear about, such as centrifugal force, but that is actually a by-product of inertia rather than being a true force. Many other forces are just forms of the four fundamental forces I have mentioned. Friction, for example, exerts force, but it is a form of electromagnetic force when you look at it closely enough.
