Elevated T-waves are usually indicative of a hyperkalemic state, which basically means too much potassium in the body. However, there are other conditions in which elevated T-waves can present such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), or a condition known as "left ventricular hypertrophy" in which the chamber of the heart responsible for pumping your blood to the rest of your body becomes enlarged (probably due to being overworked).

Peaked T waves on an electrocardiogram (ECG) are typically associated with hyperkalemia (high blood potassium levels), which can be caused by conditions such as kidney dysfunction, dehydration, or certain medications. It is important to monitor and address the underlying cause of hyperkalemia to prevent cardiac complications.

How does hyperkalemia relate to the ECG?

Hyperkalemia can lead to changes in the ECG, such as peaked T waves, widened QRS complexes, and eventually sine wave patterns. These ECG changes can progress to life-threatening arrhythmias, such as ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation, which can result in cardiac arrest if not promptly treated.
