Which is a better insulator, steel or wood garage doors?

Depends upon your need or preferance. 2 sided insulated doors with nylon rollers are very quiet and smooth operating when installed correctly. Non-insulated (hollow doors are less ridged and produce more noise, but are usuall great for securing an opening. Vinyl bached, insulated doors can produces noise associated with styrafoam insulation rubbing against metal when it travels up and down throug the horizontals. Wood has always been my personal favorite, but requires annual maint. to keep them working and looking beautiful, wheras steel requires lube and washing occasionally. I think Wood is the better insulator than steel for garage doors

How do you test the lube oil?

Rheology is the technical field concerned with lubricants and their behaviour. Commercial lubricants have dependable properties, and many are designed for specific tasks, such as high pressure, or high temperature, or low temperature. Various instruments and methods have been developed to measure the performance of lubricants. Organizations such as SAE (Soc of Automobile Eng.); ISO (International Standards Org); and ASTM (Amer Soc for Testing and Materials) produce standards for measurement of properties of lubricants.

How can be friction reduced?

Friction can be reduced by using lubricants like oil or grease on the interacting surfaces, polishing or smoothing the surfaces, using materials with lower coefficients of friction, and employing techniques like ball bearings or rollers to minimize surface contact.

How much does 1 gallon of 15w40 motor oil weigh?

In order to convert from volume to weight, we must know the density. 15w40 has a density of about .879 kilograms per liter. One gallon is about 3.785 liters. Multiplying these two numbers gets us our weight, at approximately 3.327 kilograms.
