Typically motors turn one form of energy into rotational energy.

For example, gas-powered motors in cars take the energy stored in the chemical bonds of gas and burn it to release that energy. When that energy is released, it is released as kenetic energy (heat), causeing the gas to expand and move a piston up. This is broadly called "mechanical energy" however that doesn't really describe what the energy is. As the pistons move up, they rotate a shaft. As that shaft rotates, it spins the the wheels of the car to move.

Most gas-powered motors utilize the movement of pistons to rotate a shaft, from the rotation of that shaft, all different types of movement can be utilized, not just rotation (like going up and down in an elevator).

Electric motors also focus around rotation. When you run electricity through a wire that is wound in a circle within a magnetic field, that wire will spin (it is a little more complicated, as you need to switch the current every half rotation). That wire is fixed to a shaft to spin/rotate that shaft and voila, you have the same rotational energy as the gas-powered motor that can be used for most anything under the sun.

What is the most important way to save energy and money when it comes to transportation?

The best way to save energy in transportation is to increase the fuel efficiency of motor vehicles.

Where would an electric car get its power?

It depends on whether you mean electrical power or mechanical power. The electrical power comes from the on-board batteries. The mechanical power comes from the motor. The motor is what makes the electrical power turn into mechanical power this is what goes through the drive train to propel the wheels. The Electric car will get its electrical energy from the batteries. The electrical energy is then converted into mechanical energy by the motor. The mechanical energy is then transfered into the wheels providing the power needed to achieve propulsion.

What does a motor convert?

A motor convert electrical energy to mechanical energy.

What is the main energy change in a electric motor?

The main energy change in an electric motor is from electrical energy into mechanical energy. The motor converts electrical energy supplied to it into rotational mechanical energy, which drives the motor's output shaft to perform useful work.

How much energy does a motor convert to heat?

You can calculate the quantity of energy that a motor turns into heat with either one of these equations: Heat energy = ( 1 - efficiency of the motor) x (energy input to the motor) or Heat energy = ( 1 - efficiency of the motor) x (power input to the motor) x (running time)

What is a machine that turns mechanical energy into electrical energy?

Electric motor.

Where does the energy of a washing machine come from?

The energy for a washing machine typically comes from electricity, as most washing machines are powered by an electric motor. This motor drives the various cycles and functions of the washing machine, such as spinning and agitating the clothes.

What is energy transformation in motor?

Energy transformation in a motor involves converting electrical energy into mechanical energy. When an electric current is passed through the coils in the motor, it creates a magnetic field that interacts with the motor's components to produce rotational motion. This process allows the motor to drive mechanical devices or equipment.
