The primary result of a fission reaction is the conversion of mass to energy. In fission, the nucleus split, either through radioactive decay or as result of being bombarded by other subatomic particles known as neutrons.

Fission is the process of that creates a nuclear chain reaction, usually done by firing a neutron into a uranium atom. the uranium atom absorbs the neutron splitting into 2 lighter elements and additional neutrons. this sets of a chain reaction with other uranium atoms and releases vast amounts of energy.
