Physics is called modern physics to distinguish it from classical physics, which refers to the physics developed before the 20th century. Modern physics encompasses theories and principles developed in the late 19th and 20th centuries, including quantum mechanics, relativity, and particle physics. These newer theories represent a departure from the classical physics of Newton and Maxwell.
In short Pure physics is the theoretical knowledge of concepts of physics, while applied physics is the knowledge of techniques that help to apply this theoretical knowledge to practical problems.
There are quite a few timelines that focus on important developments in physics. However, most of these timelines don't begin until at least the 18th century BCE, as there weren't any significant contributions before then. Check out the related links for some of these timelines.
Is Physics everywhere? Having physics is the only way the the universe and everything in it can exist! In short, yes, physics is everywhere, but its much more than just that. From the largest Stars in the galaxy to the small strands of energy called "Strings", using physics is the way that we describe why and how things happen in our universe.
Chemistry is the study of matter and its properties, interactions, and transformations, focusing on the composition and structure of substances. Physics, on the other hand, is the study of energy, matter, and the physical laws that govern the natural world, including forces, motion, and energy transformations. In summary, chemistry deals with chemical reactions and substances, while physics explores the fundamental laws of nature and their effects.
