interestingly, weight can be described as the measure of the force of gravity on an object.

gravity varies very slightly at different points on the earth, its generally always around 9.8m/s/s (metres per second per second or per second squared) meaning the object will weigh basically the same every on earth.

now, if gravity is discounted from an object what we are left with is how much of an object there is, which is a function of mass divided by volume. this is important in science when for example working out how much a pilot weighs when enduring high g-force. for fun a 200lbs pilot during a 5G turn (as in 5 times 1G which is just normal gravity conditions) weighs approx 1000lbs! (5x200)

physics is fun right? right?

Is mass or weight the measure of the force of gravity acting on an object?

Weight is the measure of the force of gravity acting on an object. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object. Weight depends on both the mass of the object and the acceleration due to gravity.

What measure of the force of a gravity on a object?

That is called "weight".

What is the term for the force of gravity on an object that needs to be lifted?

The force of gravity on an object that needs to be lifted is called the object's weight. This weight is the measure of the force of gravity pulling the object downward towards the Earth.

A measuer of the force of gravity on an object is?

The measure of the force of gravity on an object is called weight. It is the product of an object's mass and the acceleration due to gravity. Weight is typically measured in units of force such as newtons or pounds.

What is the upward force on an object?

The upward force on an object is a measure of the force exerted on it in the opposite direction to gravity. It is often called the normal force and counteracts the downward pull of gravity to keep the object from falling through a surface.

Measure of how hard gravity pulls on a object?

The measure of how hard gravity pulls on an object is its weight. Weight is the force exerted on an object due to gravity and is usually expressed in units such as pounds or newtons. It is proportional to the mass of the object and the acceleration due to gravity.
