Potential Energy is exactly as it sounds, right now, i am using my potential Energy to use chemical energy stored in my body and converting it into kinetic energy to type this sentence, i am also using potential energy in converting chemical energy again into electrical energy in my brain to think about what i am typing. potential energy is when energy is stored somewhere in some form for release... a stone lying on the floor has very little or no potential energy, if i pick it up i have just loaded it with the potential energy that it will emit when i drop it in the form of kinetic (because it moves) and Sound Energy (because it'll make a noise when it hits the floor) and trace amounts of heat energy because of friction ect...Hope that helps

What does food provide the body other than nutrients?

The potentential energy stored in the chemical bonds of food cells, is released during digestion and gives us the energy we need throughoutthe day to do work, such as walking, sleeping, moving, breathing etc. So, in short food gives us energy!

Why do plants store biomass?

Because they need energy to grow, which they make out of sunlight and other components, but they cannot make food all they time. You buy food and store it in your house right? Its just a way to make sure they have enough energy >.
