Mass is the property of a substance or object which reflects the fact that it contains matter and is therefore a measure of the amount of matter contained.

Weight is the force that the object exerts due to the effect of local gravity. Thus an object ALWAYS has the same mass but has a different weight depending where it is. But its weight would be lower on the moon and almost nothing in space.

Volume is simply the space that an object occupies. This will vary according to temperature (which makes objects bigger as it is increased) or pressure (which allows objects to swell as it is reduced)

What is the difference between heft and density?

Heft refers to the weight or mass of an object, while density measures how much mass is contained in a given volume. Heft is the perceived weight when lifting an object, while density is a physical property relating mass to volume.

Distinguish between mass density and weight density?

The difference is that the mass density not effect by gravity but weight density effect by gravity. for example if mass density cotn in earth equal to 20 kg/m3 and weight density equal to 196.2 N/m3 this cotn will change the weight density in the moon but mass density not change because gravity moon diffrent to gravity earth mass density =mass/volume (no gravity) weight density= (mass * gravity)/volume (gravity)

What does weight mass and volume have in common?

The relationship between them is as follows. mass = volume x density weight = mass x gravity That means that, other things being equal, mass is proportional to volume. On the other hand, weight is also proportional to mass.

What is the difference between mass and weight?

Mass is the amount of matter in an object, while weight is the force of gravity acting on that object. Mass is measured in kilograms, while weight is measured in newtons.

How are mass volume and weight the same?

Mass, volume, and weight are related but they represent different concepts. Mass is the amount of matter in an object, volume is the space occupied by an object, and weight is the force of gravity acting on an object's mass. While mass and volume are intrinsic properties of an object, weight can vary depending on the gravitational force acting on it.

What is the difference volume and mass?

mass is weight. volume accounts for size. density of items change therefore masses are not the same as volumes

How is mass calculated?

Mass is the product between volume and density.Mass is also determinated by weight.

What are the simularites of mass volume and weight?

They are three quite different concepts. The relationships between them are as follows:mass = volume x density weight = mass x gravity

What is the difference of percent of mass and percent of volume?

Percent of an objects mass is expressed in terms of its weight. Percent of an objects volume is expressed in terms of its size.

What is the difference between mass and capacity?

I do not know the answer. The difference between mass and capacity is that capacity is how much something can hold and mass is the weight of an object.

What is the difference between masswieght and volume?

mass is how much space an object takes up, weight is how much gravity is being applied to the area and volume is how much matter you can put into the object.

What is the difference between Apparent Density Density?

In metallurgy it is the weight per unit volume of a metal powder, in contrast to the weight per unit volume of the individual particles. In architecture the apparent density is1. The mass per unit volume of in-place thermal insulation.2. The mass per unit volume (or the weight per unit volume) of a material, including the voids which are inherent in the material.

What is the difference between a person's weight on the earth and on the moon?

The difference between a person's weight on the earth and on the moon has to due with the difference between mass and weight. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter and weight is the pull of gravity on that mass. Gravity on the moon is about 83% that on earth, so if you weigh 100 lbs on earth, you will weigh approximately 17 lbs on the moon.

What is the comparison between mass and volume?

mass involves weight....volume is size. A ballon and a loaf of bread may have the same volume (occupy the same space) , but the bread has more volume.
